David Patchen is an American glassmaker who left his corporate marketing job to pursue a full-time career in glassmaking. He is known for incorporating cane and murrine in his glass. Along with many other awards, Patchen has been featured on the Glass Art Magazine's cover in 2016.

Raleigh Murals Project increases art in the downtown area, Technician
Raleigh Murals Project, co-founded by Jedidiah Gant and JT Moore, has brought approximately 50 murals to the city over the past five years. The two art enthusiasts, who are also NC State alumni, started the project as an initiative to bring more art to the city, with their tagline being, "make Raleigh colorful."
NC State counseling center struggles to meet increasing demand, Technician
According to Monica Osburn, the center is placed in a unique position because they don't have a budget from North Carolina's government.
"We don't really have other funding sources to be able to grow the resources in the counseling center other than increasing student fees, and that's not really something we take lightly," she said.
New Hoop House increases fresh produce on campus, Campus Enterprises
The Agroecology Education Farm (AEF) at NC State is in the process of building its second hoop house, which will allow for crops to be grown year-round. In addition, NC State Dining serves all of the produce from the farm at the majority of dining locations on campus.
