Lauren is a professional writer and editor at the Research Triangle Institute (RTI International), the anchor tenant of North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park. She is a passionate storyteller with a love for mission driven work. At RTI, Lauren makes science accessible to the public.
Lauren’s expertise lies in nonprofit storytelling, university communications, and institutional communications. She is well versed in multiple scientific topics, including healthcare, energy, toxicology, environment, and innovation. Lauren is always seeking opportunities to grow in her writing and editing skills, earning her a certification in editing from the American Copy Editors Society/Poynter Institute.

Lauren discovered her passion for writing while earning her Bachelors of Art at NC State University. She has written for Technician, NC State Campus Enterprises, and Triangle Downtowner. During her time at Technician, Lauren served as the Social Media Editor for the newspaper’s 100th volume. Her writing has been featured in 100th Year of Technician, a book celebrating a century of student journalism.

Additionally, she has an extensive background in freelance writing and copy editing with topics ranging from profiles on blowing glass artists to advertisement for car dealerships. She has had contracts with multiple businesses, including WorthPoint, the world’s largest appraisal subscription, and Home Solutions LLC., a Three Ships company.
